As Winona Ryder revealed in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly, "We actually got married in 'Dracula'. No, I swear to god I think we're married in real life." How did this happen? Well, it seems that for the scene where their two characters marry, film director Francis Ford Coppola used a real Romanian priest to perform the ceremony. Could it be that Coppola, father of Reeve's one-time girlfriend Sofia Coppola, wanted to make sure that he never had to welcome the actor into his own family?
Keanu Reeves did not comment on Francis' involvement, but he did confirm in a recent appearance on Esquire's "Explain This" (via YouTube) that he considers Ryder to be his wife. As he said in the interview when asked about the marriage, "Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we're married under the eyes of God."
As the marriage ceremony took place on February 14, 1992, Ryder and Reeves will be entering their fourth decade of wedded bliss on Valentine's Day 2022. Do they have any special plans to celebrate? Probably none that their current partners are aware of, at any rate. Still, it's interesting to note that neither of the two have ever made it to the altar with anyone else.
