Overview

Dr. Nelson's research has focused on evaluation of evidence-supported, patient-centered approaches in underserved communities, including evaluation of the array of videoconferencing technologies to deliver clinical and educational programming. She pioneered school-based telebehavioral health from 1999-present, including her current Telehealth ROCKS/KanAWARE initiatives. Currently federally funded at $14 million, she has served as Principal Investigator and evaluator on numerous federal and foundation-funded programs, across child telebehavioral topics (e.g., ADHD, depression, autism, trauma), pediatrics (e.g., epilepsy, diabetes, medical complexity), lifespan (from telelactation to telehospice), and settings (e.g., school, primary care, home). She led development and dissemination of national child telebehavioral health guidelines, as well as contributing to NQF’s development of telehealth assessment frameworks.
