In an alternate United States, the country is ruled by the royal Washington family (descendants of George, of course). As the story begins, we follow Princess Beatrice, heir to the throne and America's first future queen, in her pressures to balance love for country and love for self. Meanwhile, Princess Samantha struggles with her role as the "spare", and Prince Jefferson falls for the one girl who doesn't care for his princely status. Outside the palace, Nina Gonzalez tries to move past the royal family, while Daphne Deighton schemes to get in, by any means possible.
