Kilian Paris Launches New Fragrance Smoking Hot With Star Guests

Kilian Paris’ annual soirée was one of the biggest parties at this year’s Paris Fashion Week — complete with stars, smokiness and sexiness. To celebrate the launch of founder Kilian Hennessy’s latest fragrance, Smoking Hot, on Oct. 2, the French label lit up Mondaine de Pariso in the 7th arrondissement with a guest list that included renowned photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, actors Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford and Amy Jackson and castmembers from Netflix’s Emily in Paris including Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold and Paul Forman. They were joined by celebrity makeup artist Sir John (Beyoncé, Jessica Alba, Joan Smalls), who was recently appointed makeup creative director of the brand.

The party drew a crowd, with a throng trying to enter and the fire department halting entry into the over-capacity space for over an hour. Once in the red interiors, guests were met with a fog of smoke and scented corridors filled with notes of the fragrance: tobacco absolute, apple-flavored shisha tobacco and bourbon vanilla. It was founder and perfumer Kilian Hennessy’s aim for smokiness and sexiness to be the theme of the night. “At night there are no rules but one — just be smoking hot,” says Hennessy.

On the lower level was the photo call, an interactive photo station of mirrors and — yes — a permanent tattoo station. There were also apple-flavored shishas (water pipes) on display and, upstairs, a bar where guests could lounge and get Smoking Hot-inspired cocktails. DJs Emma Bonneaud and Benjamin Belin played sets, with guests dancing until the early hours of the morning.

Kilian Paris’ Smoking Hot joins the brand’s other five olfactive families: The Fresh, The Narcotics, The Cellars, The Smokes and The Liquors. To showcase the new fragrance, the brand hosted a pop-up Kilian Bar, located in the inner courtyard of the chic Plaza Athénée Hotel.
