Monstrous Marriott Renaissance Chelsea Hotel with Rooftop Pool Tops Out; See New Renderings

According to Marriott, “every stay is a chance for a new discovery” at its Renaissance Hotels brand. In Chelsea, one of those discoveries got a little closer: A towering 40-story, 330-room outpost at 112 West 25th Street has just topped out, and a glass facade is on the way up as well. Late last week a flag was pitched atop the approximately 450-foot-tall structure.

Unused neighboring development rights allowed developer Lam Group and designer Nobutaka Ashihara to literally think a little bigger: It is one of the tallest in the area with plenty of room for the restaurant and bar, courtyard, meeting room, and small outdoor pool with lounge seating seen in renderings. Interior designer Stonehill Taylor says it was “inspired by the unique history of its locale in the Garment District and Flea Market Hotels.”
