There's a reason that Oprah Winfrey is so great at what she does — she listens to people and makes changes. Proving that she truly does listen to the voices on her site, Oprah removed the "dislike" button from her Oprah Daily website after users shared their concerns.
The change might have come from Oprah, but the idea didn't start there. According to the Oprah website, the idea to remove the "dislike" button actually came from someone's comment on her website. "Hi Oprah, may I suggest a spring clean of 'Let's Talk' as the anonymity of the 'thumbs down' doesn't align or serve this community," Oprah Insider MARYFROMPERTH wrote on the website. "It takes great courage and vulnerability for some to write a comment, and you never know how they may be feeling."
Oprah listened. "Oprah Daily editors worked with the engineering team to push an update that removed the thumbs-down option across our site," according to the site's statement. "We may continue to hear people say, 'Never read the comments' as a way to navigate other digital spaces—but I'm proud to say that this won't be one of them."
