Rays Remain On Top of MiLB Organizational Standings — College Baseball, MLB Draft, Prospects

Last year, the Rays put together a minor league season so outlandishly good that it broke the scale of an excellent minor league season for an organization.

We’re not going to recap everything about it here, but we covered at the time how unprecedented the Rays’ 2021 success was.

A year later, gravity and regression have hit the Rays. Their minor league teams this year are winning at a significantly lower rate than they did last year. In fact, their winning percentage as an organization has dropped by .081 percentage points. That’s the difference between a .653 winning percentage and a .572 winning percentage.

But even with that drop, the Rays still have the best overall organizational record across the minor leagues. They also have the best run differential. It’s rare for any MiLB team to top a .600 winning percentage, so the Rays’ winning percentage this year is much more in line with normalcy.

The Rays remaining on top is not all that surprising. Meanwhile, the Rockies have impressively climbed to second in MiLB winning percentage. The Dodgers (No. 3) and Yankees (No. 4) are, like the Rays, regularly among the more successful organizations in terms of MiLB wins and losses.

The records below are as of the morning of Sept. 6, 2022.
