Professional Background
Dr. Robert Gibler is a pediatric psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Sciences within the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Gibler conducts multidisciplinary research focused on identifying strategies to promote optimal daily functioning among children and adolescents with complex chronic pain conditions. He is particularly interested in the roles of physical activity and combined psychological and exercise-based interventions for the treatment and prevention of pediatric chronic pain.
In addition to research, Dr. Gibler provides outpatient behavioral medicine psychotherapy services to children and adolescents with chronic pain conditions and headache disorders. He specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), an evidence-based psychological intervention for pediatric chronic pain conditions, and tailors his treatment to meet the unique needs of each child and family.
