While Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge have been dating for about a year, it turns out that the pair have known one another for most of their lives.
In April 2021, a source close to the Richie family revealed that Sofia's father Lionel Richie was a big fan of the relationship, despite the fact that it was still quite new. As the source told E! News, "They weren't close growing up but Lionel has been friends with Elliot's father and has worked with him for years." On top of that, Lionel believes that a relationship between his daughter and Grainge completely make sense. As he put it, "He thinks they are a perfect match and it was very natural progression for Sofia and Elliot to get together."
On top of those family ties, it turns out that Grainge has also built a career in the music industry like Lionel has, though in a different way. He is the owner and founder of the record label 10K Projects, which Us Weekly notes got its start after signing Tekashi 6ix9ine.
